That is, unless they make drastic changes to the makeup of their roster. Clearly, the current roster construction isn’t good enough to reach the postseason.
This has led a lot of people to suggest trading away De’Aaron Fox, as Tyrese Haliburton has thrived as the starting point guard. However, instead of trading away a budding young star, why not put different talent around him.
What are some NBA trades the Kings could pull off to get Fox and Haliburton more help? Which players could they bring back to Sactown to help them end their playoff drought?
The Atlanta Hawks are another team that has struggled to meet expectations this season. They’ve been picking things up lately behind the great play of Trae Young, but adding Harrison Barnes would be great for them.
His two-way presence would help them a ton on the defensive end. Plus, he’d be another versatile offensive player that could help Young on that end of the floor.
This deal may not improve the Kings too much this season, but it would certainly help them for the future. Cam Reddish has a ton of untapped potential, still, and he could grow with Fox and Haliburton.
Danilo Gallinari would give the Kings a bit more floor spacing, and Timothe Luwawu-Cabbarot is a solid energy guy the Kings could use at the end of their rotation.
Sacramento Kings are one of the best teams in the NBA – when it comes to underperforming. This team <a href=https://hoopshabit.com/2022/01/06/nba-trades-help-sacramento-kings/"https://champsorchumps.us/drought/longest-nba-playoff-drought" target="_blank" rel="noopener">holds the longest playoff drought in the NBA right now, and it doesn’t look like it will end anytime soon.

NBA Trades: 3 trades to help the Sacramento Kings – Indiana Pacers

Kings receive: Domantas Sabonis, Torrey Craig

Pacers receive: Marvin Bagley III, Davion Mitchell, Tristan Thompson, 2022 First-Round Pick, 2024 First-Round Pick

Adding Domantas Sabonis would be a huge addition for the Sacramento Kings. Having a second All-Star-caliber player next to De’Aaron Fox would do wonders.

Sabonis could slide in at the power forward position, playing next to Richaun Holmes in the frontcourt. He’d give Sacramento’s offense a big-time boost.

Past that, Torrey Craig would be an underrated get for this Sacramento squad. He’d be a nice 3&D wing to bring off the bench for them.

As for Indiana, they’d be getting two quality young players and two unprotected draft picks to help kickstart a much-needed rebuild.

It’s been well-documented that Marvin Bagley III’s time with the Kings needs to come to a close. Indiana would be a place for him to restart his career.

Meanwhile, Davion Mitchell is in the midst of a solid rookie season. While it would be unfortunate for the Kings to give up on him, it would be necessary to add Sabonis to the squad.

Since the Pacers are probably looking to retool and rebuild, the Kings should look to throw some of their young assets at Indiana in hopes of getting a deal done.

Nabbing Sabonis would help cement them as at least a play-in team, and potentially more moving forward. This is a move they should definitely look into.

NBA Trades: 3 trades to help the Sacramento Kings – Boston Celtics

Kings receive: Marcus Smart, Al Horford, Aaron Nesmith, Juancho Hernangomez

Celtics receive: Buddy Hield, Harrison Barnes

This would be a blockbuster trade, but it could really help out both teams. Both teams are looking to improve and make changes, and this would clearly do both of those things.

Boston would be receiving two quality rotation pieces that would bolster their offense, which has been the primary issue for the C’s this season.

Buddy Hield is an elite three-point shooter. The Celtics have been one of the worst teams from behind the arc this year, and he would obviously help with that problem.

Harrison Barnes would give the C’s a great two-way presence. His solid defense and versatile offensive game would take some of the pressure off of the Jays.

As for Sacramento, the Kings would get a huge influx of defense, which is something they desperately need. They’ve been one of the worst defensive teams in the NBA this year.

Marcus Smart is obviously an All-Defensive First Team type of player and would give the team a huge spark on that end of the floor.

Al Horford would provide them a similar presence. His versatile defense would help them a ton down low, as well as on the perimeter.

Aaron Nesmith would be a nice young asset for them, and Juancho Hernangomez would be in the trade solely for salary-matching purposes.
