NBA Games Today & Tomorrow: Where to watch NBA games

Games are televised on ABC, ESPN, and TNT. As of now, ESPN has doubleheaders airing on Wednesday and Friday nights, while TNT has doubleheaders airing on Tuesday and Thursday nights. In the second half of the season, ABC shows a game on both Saturday and Sunday.

In addition, various regional networks have the rights to air games. Make sure to check your local listings to see which local channels have the rights to your favorite team’s games. As of now, the two most common regional networks are NBC Sports and Bally Sports. Here’s a full of local networks that cover each team.

Past that, the league allows subscriptions on their app and website to both NBA League Pass and NBATV, which also air most games. The exception to this is local blackouts.

NBA Games Today & Tomorrow: Blackout restrictions

One example of a blackout is if you are in New York trying to watch a New York Knicks game on NBA League Pass, that will not be allowed. Since you are local, the site will prompt you to check your local listings. The same concept applies to any games being broadcast on national television (ESPN, TNT, etc.).

Also, if a game is being aired on national TV (ESPN, TNT, etc.), it will often not be aired on local channels. Those games can only be viewed on national TV networks.

NBA Games Today & Tomorrow: Watching games for free

Currently, there are no truly free ways to view games. However, if you already have cable television you may be subscribed to local and national TV networks that air games. Make sure to check your listings.

On top of that, national TV networks such as TNT will allow viewers to watch a 10-minute preview of the game on their website, but it will then prompt you to insert your TV provider information if you wish to continue.

NBA Games Today & Tomorrow: Best streaming apps for games

The best apps to use for streaming games are the ones associated with each individual platform. ESPN has the ESPN app, TNT has a TNT app, and ABC has an ABC app as well. The league has an app that allows those who subscribe to watch games on League Pass and NBATV, too.

In addition, most local networks have apps that let subscribers watch the games on them. For example, NBC has an app that allows local viewers to watch games of the teams that their networks cover.
