Beantown is Meantown. This isn’t California love; this is for real. That was the mindset of every fan that wore green and represented the Boston Celtics in Game 3.
It paid off in the end. A 116-10 victory and a 2-1 series lead. Yet, that was not the night’s main focus, at least, not for the visiting Golden State Warriors. They seemed to be more interested in crowd behavior.
We don’t need to remind the basketball world about one Draymond Green and the type of behavior he has displayed thus far in the NBA Finals.
Green would eventually foul out of Game 3 after scoring just two points, grabbing four rebounds and, dishing out three assists. A perfect triple single. After the dismissal, Boston fans let Green hear it, and it was, well, raucous. They chanted “F*** you, Draymond” over and over again.
After the game, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr responded to the heckling, as did Klay Thompson. Both men referred to the Boston crowd as “classy” and asked about kids in the crowd. Even Green’s wife took to Twitter to voice her thoughts.

Seriously? That chant alone is enough to get everyone sensitive? Please. This is as soft as Charmin. Even Charles Barkley calling Shaquille O’Neal “Mr. Sensitive” or “Petty White” doesn’t register on this scale.
First and foremost, can they worry about the game and how abysmal Green has been in this series so far? Another triple single on the stat sheet, with no stat being of greater value than the number of fouls committed and the amount of over-excessive acts on the court.
Celtics fans and sports fans, in general, seem to agree.
Yup, throwing items at analysts? That’s very classy.
Ouch.
The court has all the evidence it needs for a conviction. Plus, if memory serves, Golden State fans directed an inappropriate comment toward LeBron James a couple of years ago. So, when it comes back at you, what’s the need to be upset about? Play better. Green, to his credit, took all the criticism in stride.
It should be noted that Golden State is still likely to win the series unless Boston goes as ballistic as they did in Games 1 and 3 in Games 4 and 5. But we know now that Boston has got Golden State’s attention, and the C’s fans are no doubt tired of hearing how the Warriors would brush them aside despite being a better challenger than the Miami Heat.
Keep the trash talking coming if you are members of the crowd at TD Garden. You may have gotten underneath the Warriors’ skin (as Draymond Green tends to do to his opponents).
